SJHL CanaltaSim Game 2 Yorkton Terriers Vs Battlefords North Stars Highlights/Recap

     After an absolutely wild ending to game 1 where the Terriers gave up the tying goal with just 0.7 seconds remaining in regulation, https://clips.twitch.tv/ModernEnjoyableBatJebaited?tt_medium=clips_api&tt_content=url , they were able to redeem themselves in overtime by coming in down the left side and ripping a slapshot past Kristian Lyon to give Yorkton the win and 1-0 series lead. https://clips.twitch.tv/SilkyGenerousArugulaOMGScoots 

     Battlefords played very well throughout the opening frame forcing Terriers netminder Phillipe Bond to make countless big saves which ultimately led to a North Stars goal with 4:39 remaining in the period on a bad turnover by Dman Zach Ziegler directly to the front of the net where Ben Hiltz would fire it home blocker side past Bond to give the Stars a much needed 1-0 lead. https://clips.twitch.tv/TrustworthyRespectfulSparrowBlargNaut . Both goaltenders stood strong throughout the first period as it would remain a 1-0 score to end the first. Your end of period shot tally is 17-13 in favour of the North Stars, the time on attack was 2:46 to 2:16 for the North Stars as well so a fairly even back and forth period, however all it takes is a bounce here and there for the game to change completely, faceoffs were even at 10 a piece. 

     The 2nd period would get underway with Battlefords carrying the play leading to a solid shot in front by Stars forward Carson Reagan, Reagan's shot would go off of the post and across the crease onto the stick of Elijah Loon-Stewardson for the easy tap in goal. https://clips.twitch.tv/SmallEsteemedBubbleteaTwitchRaid Both goaltenders once again would follow up a goal by trading big saves to keep the score at 2-0. Petruic who has been fairly quiet in this series so far would get a high quality chance but just couldn't find the back of the net as the puck rings off the post into the corner, https://clips.twitch.tv/FitAliveDonkeyOptimizePrime The North Stars would continue to pour the puck on net as Austin becker would skate to the corner and send the puck in front to Urbanskiwho couldn't bury the puck but on the rebound would be Hiltz once again to bury his second goal of the night. https://clips.twitch.tv/ObservantResilientCookieLitty At the midway point of the 2nd period Zach Ziegler would make up for his costly turnover on the games opening goal by getting open to land a hard wrister over the glove of Lyon and gets the Terriers on the board to cut the North Stars lead to 3-1. https://clips.twitch.tv/YawningCovertLapwingKappaClaus Not long after Ziegler got Yorkton on the board, it would be Riley Egan finding the back of the net after a nice back and forth play with Ethan Robson for the snapshot past the blocker of Kristian Lyon, making the score 3-2 North Stars after holding a 3-0 lead, fans can feel the tide of the game starting to turn in favour of the Terriers after that goal despite Battlefords continuing to get quality chances on Bond. https://clips.twitch.tv/CrypticOnerousSalamanderSSSs Yorkton and Battlefords would continue to trade shots throughout the remainder of the 2nd period as the Terriers continue to push for the crucial tying goal, Yorkton wouldn't be able to capitalize on their momentum in the period, however they still have 20 minute remaining to get game 2 tied up. Through 40 minutes the shot totals are about even with a slight edge in Yorkton's favour at 31-30, time on attack is 5:04 to 4:54 for the Terriers, Yorkton is leading in faceoffs 24-19 and is 1/2 on the powerplay.
     Battlefords plain and simple came out flying in the 3rd period as just 2:30 into the 3rd period Jaxon Steele picks up the puck after a beautiful no look between the legs pass by Dylan McCabe to turn and fire it glove side past Phillipe Bond, renewing the North Stars 2 goal lead. https://clips.twitch.tv/CrypticOnerousSalamanderSSSsss Just minutes later Austin Becker would extend the North Stars to 3 goals as Phillipe Bond gives him an absolute gift as the puck was covered, Bond had the puck in his glove, but for a reason that no one will know unless you ask him, played it out straight onto Becker's stick who just had to fire it past the blocker of Bond. Becker returning from injury has easily been one of the most noticeable players in this series playing a big part in both games 1 and 2 for the Stars. https://clips.twitch.tv/ImpartialLachrymoseCarabeefTwitchRPG Once Battlefords got up by 3 again Yorkton would start to get some more quality chances but they just couldn't seem to crack Kristian Lyon tonight as he would hold off the Terriers for the remainder of the game and extending the SJHL's leading scorer Chantz Petruic's point drought to I believe what is 3 games now, going back to Game 6 of the La Ronge series. Battlefords would go on to add 1 more goal with 7 minutes left as Becker gets Bond moving hard across to try and make the stop but just ran out of time as it sneaks by the blocker just inside the post. https://clips.twitch.tv/SteamyTemperedSpindleGrammarKing Game 2 would ultimately come to an end with a score of 6-2 for the Battlefords North Stars to even up the series at 1 game a piece, I have to say though, atleast 3-4 goals that Bond gave up, he had almost zero chance of making the save, the Terriers need to be better in front of their goalie in Game 3 if they want to have any shot at winning the game Sunday, Terriers also need more from Petruic as previously mentioned is currently suffering a 3 game point drought and if he cant get going soon then Yorkton could very well be in loads of trouble as the series drags on into next week.
     The final shot totals from Game 2 is 47-43 for the North Stars, time on attack being 8:07 to 7:58 also for the North Stars, Yorkton would win in the faceoff circle 32-24.

One of the keys to game 3 will be seeing how Yorkton's backend responds after hanging Bond out to dry in this game too many times, it happened on the tying goal back in game 1 and it happened too many times here in game 2 for the Terriers, if you give any of the teams remaining in the playoffs those kinds of chances, more often than not it is going to end up in the back of the net.
     My prediction for game 3 is another Battlefords win, although I don't think the scoring will be quite as high this time around, im going with a 3-2 overtime win game winning goal will be scored by Ben Hiltz.
