SJHL CanaltaSim Yorkton Terriers Vs Battlefords North Stars Game 3 Highlights/Recap

Following a game 2 blowout win for the North Stars, they would look to build off of that momentum to come flying into game 3 at the Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton. Currently on a 3 game pointless drought, Terriers star Chantz Petruic gets a new linemate in Kaden Taphorn to try and spark the offence. Phillipe Bond looks to bounce back from a shaky game 2.
Just under 5 minutes into the game Ryland McNinch would jump into the faceoff circle to grab the puck, McNinch would retrieve the puck and drive to the net as it sneaks in behind Bond, the puck would stop just before the goal line but McNinch would not give up on the play and gets behind the Yorkton netminder to tap it in and give the Stars an early 1-0 lead, the opening goal is assisted by Esau. https://clips.twitch.tv/ShySweetLyrebirdUWot with 6 minutes remaining in the opening frame Battlefords would get an extended 5 on 3 opportunity where Quintin Loon-Stewardson would score being wide open in front of the Terriers net to make it a 2-0 game, because there was a delayed penalty going against Yorkton on the play, it would remain a 5 on 3 advantage for the Stars. The 2nd North Stars goal of the night was assisted by brother Elijah Loon-Stewardson and Rylan Nivon. https://clips.twitch.tv/GenerousHorribleMeatloafBloodTrail Yorkton would proceed to kill of the remaining time of their penalty kill to escape any further damage on the scoreboard.
The North Stars would hold their 2-0 lead through the end of the 1st period as Kristian Lyon is solid once again between the pipes. Your shot tally through 1 period of play is 21-14 in favour of Battlefords, faceoffs are 14-6 also for Battlefords, time on attack is also a slight edge in the Stars favour at 2:44-2:28.
Yorkton would come out firing early and often in the 2nd frame but the Stars netminder would continue to shut the door. The Terriers momentum would come to a standstill as Colby Vranai takes a 2 minute slashing penalty. Battlefords Dman Seth Summers would waste no time on this powerplay and fire home an absolute cannon past Phillipe Bond to extend the stars lead to 3 early in the 2nd. https://clips.twitch.tv/BlushingJazzyAntKlappa Summers' goal is assisted by Austin Becker and Matthew Fletcher. Most of this game despite being down by 3, Yorkton's Chantz Petruic has finally been heating up getting many chances and setting them up as well just hasn't had any luck go his way quite yet. with 11 minutes to go in the 2nd period, the North Stars would continue to pile the goals on Yorkton as Matthew Fletcher snipes one high blocker side assisted by Austin Becker to make this a 4-0 game and causing some Terrier fans to leave the arena well before the end of this game. https://clips.twitch.tv/NurturingAbnegateNostrilNerfRedBlaster Only 2 minutes later the Terriers would finally get on the board and if you can find 1 bright spot in this game for Yorkton, it is that Petruic has ended his point drought and seems to be connecting well with Kaden Taphorn on his line now as Taphorn would score on a heavy one timer assisted by Petruic and Guiney bringing the score to 4-1. https://clips.twitch.tv/HumbleBenevolentNewtBigBrother With 7:42 remaining in the period, Timon Prexler would jump the Stars lead back up to 4 goals with a shot a glove side that gets past Bond, the goal would be assisted by Walter Somers and Rylan Nivon. https://clips.twitch.tv/ShyDirtyPotDerp
Through 2 periods of play the North Stars hold a 5-1 and are in full control to go up 2 games to 1 in this series. Shots on goal are 33-32 for Battlefords, time on attack is 5:09-4:47 in favour of Yorkton, faceoffs are sitting at 25-18 for Battlefords, the North Stars are currently 2/5 on the powerplay while the Terriers have yet to get one.
Just over a minute into the 3rd period Yorkton shows they have some life still left in the tank as Zach Ziegler sneaks a wrister past Kristian Lyon to bring the score to 5-2, Chantz Petruic would pick up his 2nd assist of the night as he is now just looking to end his goal drought, the secondary assist would go to Tyson Janzen. https://clips.twitch.tv/IncredulousAbrasiveElkBleedPurple
Yorkton would continue to press the North Stars in hopes to get this game within 2 goals but every chance the Terriers get Kristian Lyon would stand tall to shut it down with numerous big saves. The Stars would get yet another powerplay in this game and for the 3rd time in the game they would score with the man advantage, Elijah Loon-Stewardson would pick up the goal with the apple coming from Rylan Nivon who has had a big night on the scoresheet. https://clips.twitch.tv/TenuousMushyMomWoofer
The Terriers answer right back with a goal of their own as Jordan Guiney buries the puck at the side of the net after Kaden Taphorn missed the net causing the puck to bounce off the back boards. https://clips.twitch.tv/AnimatedTangentialMetalKreygasm
For the Terriers this would be as close as they'd get to tying the game as McNinch would go get his 2nd goal of the night with 6 minutes left in game 3 to make it 7-3 as Granville puts the puck into his own net. https://clips.twitch.tv/AbstruseShortOryxSeemsGood
The North Stars would close this game out with another monster performance from their offence as they pick up the 7-3 win in game 3 and take a 2-1 series lead going into game 4.
Your final shot tally from game 3 is 49-48 in favour of the North Stars, time on attack finished at 7:24-7:19 in favour of the North Stars as well, Battlefords would also win the faceoff battle 35-30 tonight, along with going 3/6 on the man advantage.
Your 3 Stars for Game 3 are:
     3. Jordan Guiney Forward Yorkton- 1 Goal, 1 Assist
     2. Riley Nivon Forward Battlefords- 3 Assists
     1. Riley McNinch Forward Battlefords- 2 Goals
     Honourable mentions to:
Matthew Fletcher Defence Battlefords- 1 Goal, 1 Assist
Chantz Petruic Forward Yorkton- 2 Assists (ending 3 game point drought)
Some news prior to Game 4 as Terriers shake up the lines to get the offence rolling.
     Legrandeur-Petruic-Guiney
Taphorn-Zawatsky-Taphorn        (Lines via @sjsiminsider on twitter)
     Henry-Norum-Ries
     Robson-Vranai-Egan
Looks like North Stars will keep same lineup as game 3 as most would expect.
Game 4 begins at 8pm Saskatchewan time, 10pm EST.
My prediction for game 4 is that Petruic finds the back of the net twice to end his 4 game goal drought, predicting a 5-3 Terriers win to even up the series and make it a Best Of 3.
